Notes to Hikers

1. Number Bib

  • No buffer Number bib will be issued or distributed on the event day
  • Please fill in your emergency contact information on the back of the number bib with a ball-pen or marker
  • Number bib is non-transferable and must be worn only by the participant to whom it has been assigned
  • For those who haven’t received Hiker’s Pack before the event, please collect your Number bib at the Registration Counter at the event site in the morning
  • Please do not bend or fold your Number bib as this may damage the timing chip

2. Event T-shirt

  • For safety reasons, participants should wear the event t-shirt for easy identification by our marshals along the hiking routes
  • The number bib MUST BE VISIBLE AND WORN on the front of your T-shirt throughout the entire race

3. Personal Safety

  • Please take up your own personal accident insurance coverage
  • It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that you are physically fit and healthy enough to participate in the event

4. Personal Belongings

  • We strongly recommend that you pack your belongings in a lightweight backpack
  • You may store your personal belongings in the assigned zone of the event site
  • Please be careful of your valuable belonging. SPHC will not be responsible or liable for the loss or damage of your personal belongings.

5. Emergency

  • In case of adverse weather conditions (e.g., Typhoon Signal Number 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning Signals issued in the morning), please visit the event website ( for the latest announcement before the event.
  • Please bring your own mobile device, keep calm if you lose your way, and call our emergency hotlines at 2219 8061 or 2219 8931 when needed.
  • Along the trails, hikers will encounter various Distance Posts (DP) with their own unique numbers. If you lose your way, you may SMS 50222 to report Distance Posts numbers. For details of the 50222 SMS Hiker Tracking Service, please visit

6. Reuse, Reduce, Recycle

  • Please reduce waste and reuse what you can.
  • Please be reminded to separate your recyclable items / rubbish and place them into the appropriate bins.

  • Route map/guide book to trail/map
  • Comfortable Hiking shoes / non-slip shoes
  • Bottled Water (1.5L)
  • Sweat Towel
  • Sun Protection Supplies
  • Insect Repellent
  • Rain Jackets
  • Camera
  • Electrolyte Drinks
  • Mini First Aid Kit


  • Pay attention to the latest weather information issued by the Observatory before and during the activity
  • Don’t venture unmaintained path or take shortcuts. Exploring new routes will put you in danger, or get lost.
  • Sleep well before your excursions
  • Pay attention to your physical fitness and strength and avoid over-exhausted
  • If get lost in the mountain, retrace your steps along the original route. Don’t force your way further and seek help immediately
